Long Distance existed before it was referred using that word. What happened though, is the shift from the use of letters, to the use of phones to the use of different applications for video calling for connecting to your partner. Dhruv Sehgal’s I Love Thane starring Ritwik Bhowmik and Masaba Gupta has taken this concept rather simply and turned it into a love story with the difference in distance between 2 places in same city.
Masaba’s Saiba is a freelance architect residing in a posh locality of Mumbai. Ritwik’s Parth, a Government servant, is born, brought up and now even working in Thane. Their worlds meet when they are put together for a project.
Dhruv Sehgal has not just acted in but has even written the series, Little Things and if you have watched it, you would know he is known for such simple yet effective stories. Here too the writer turned director has tried to bring about the same magic. And has been successful in doing so. With that, he has also added Before series like sequences where the two protagonists walk down the streets talking about their meaning of life, their likes and dislikes and simultaneously falling in love. This way, we don’t just experience their love stories, but also explore the lanes of the city.
The story and the acting are so organic you forget about its flaws. So, are there non? Maybe.
